How to fill out the School Meal Benefits form to help our school be eligible for more funding!

Want to help McKinley-Thatcher get more funding just by filling out a simple form? Completing the School Meal Benefits Application has the potential to be SO IMPORTANT for our school funding, and we’re making an effort this year to raise awareness. Our goal is to have 100% of our families fill this out! The deadline is Friday September 18th.
Be ready to start the application with the following:
Your student’s legal name (first, last, middle initial)
Your student’s Student ID number (found in the parent portal next to your child’s name when you log in)
SNAP/TANF/FDPIR case numbers (if applicable)
Foster child status (if applicable)
Last 4 digits of your SSN
Household income numbers/information
What information do I need?
Will the information I enter be shared?
All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Immigration, migrant, citizenship, or refugee status is not required when completing the form.
Why should I do this if I won’t qualify?
Since we don’t know the exact criteria, you won’t actually know if you’ll qualify until you fill it out! And even if you don’t qualify, it is still beneficial to have everyone complete it.
If we qualify as a school, we potentially can get over $225,000 in additional funding ($775 more per pupil!). This can affect our school in a huge way, from paying for essential staff to the ability to have more specials.
How much funding can we get?
Does it come in different languages?
Yes! When you go to the start page, choose from the other languages in the “language” dropdown.
Should I “decline benefits” when it asks?
We suggest that you do NOT decline and that you take the time to fill out the rest of the information. This helps the odds of our school qualifying. Remember, you may qualify even if you think you won’t.
Do I need to submit for each child at McT?
Only one form is required for all children in the household.
For an extra incentive to get to our goal, we’ll draw names for one $100 gift card given out each week (the earlier you submit, the more chances to win!) and we’ll have more day-of raffles at each of these PTA events where you can find us giving out information. And if we achieve 100% participation, we will host a popsicle party for all students, and raffle off even more prizes like Principal for a Day, a Sexy Pizza pizza-making party, and more!
