Why We Need YOU to Support and Join Us at Our Annual McKinley-Thatcher Auction on March 13th

We are seeking urgent help from our community to raise enough funds to continue our school’s essential core programs!

YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER! The stakes have never been higher to make our McKinley-Thatcher PTA Auction a success. Without your support, we will be forced to make devastating cuts that will fundamentally change the McKinley-Thatcher experience.

WHY DO WE NEED TO GIVE MORE? This is a crucial time for McKinley-Thatcher and the timeline is urgent. Following further significant budget cuts from Denver Public Schools for the 2026-2027 school year, we must raise $250,000 to preserve the essential programs and staff that make our school exceptional. Unfortunately, public school funding alone cannot provide the comprehensive education our children deserve. With declining enrollment across DPS, schools are facing budget cuts. These DPS budget cuts are causing McT to eliminate  core programs. This year community support is not just helpful, it's essential.

  • PARAPROFESSIONALS

    Our incredible helpers provide essential support - in classrooms and beyond - to lower student-adult ratios, facilitate focused small-group instruction, respond quickly to social and emotional needs and provide behavioral guidance, and measurably improve academic outcomes.

  • SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

    Our School Social Worker serves as the heart of our student support system, providing comprehensive services that help every child thrive.

    This role provides crucial support for crisis response & safety, individual & group support, family partnerships, and Special Education Advocacy.

  • SCHOOL LIBRARIAN

    This role serves an important purpose to helps foster students’ literacy and research skills and expand their abilities and love for reading.

  • SCHOOL NURSE

    The nurse is a vital position within the school that ensures student health, wellness and safety.

  • SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS & PARAPROFESSIONALS

    These staff members support all students' unique learning needs while allowing classroom teachers to focus on core instruction.

  • SPECIALS

    Specials are classes in STEM, Visual Arts, and Physical Education that spark creativity and joy in learning and help to develop critical thinking skills. They also provide teachers with essential planning and professional development time.
